A and S's first visit

A came over a for the first time when RC was just a couple of months old. S just loved it! She wanted to hold her the whole time. As soon as she would stop crying, she would ask to hold her again--too cute!

H was here too and was enjoying the extra attention as was S. When S was holding RC, she told us to pick up H so that she could see her holding RC--sha!

First Easter Egg Hunt

This weekend was R and R's first ever Easter Egg Hunt, yay! We went over to A's house and she had the cutest little Easter set up ever. She had a little station complete with bags with bunnies, chicks, etc. on them and the kids decorated their own bags with little markers. After a quick lunch, it was hunting time.




All of the kids were lined up and chomping at the bit, except for R that is! He was a little confused as to what the commotion was all about. We sang a little "going on an egg hunt" song and he got into it a little more. We saw a green egg and he placed it into his bag and began looking for the next one. Whoa, another green one--we are really on a roll now. I point out egg #3 to him and he reaches for the big pink one by the bush.
He grabs it, then drops it like a hot potato and runs over to me as if I should have known better than to have him pick it up. It was filled with coins and I guess the weight and clanking scared him. That was about the extent of his hunting, but he did play with other things that she had set out for them. He was excited again when he realized that his two green eggs have candy inside.

The "big" kids had a separate section where the eggs were hidden a little more, including a few prize eggs. If we were at Maw-Dines, he would have won the prize for the fewest eggs ;0).

After the hunt the kids went upstairs to play together in S's playroom where R gravitated toward the cars--shocking! We ate cupcakes with eggs on them and she gave the R's little goodies bags filled with Easter candy, etc. All in all it really was a great day!

And for a bonus, we stopped to look at cows on the way home--she lives in the country. He loved them and didn't want to leave. The entire ride home he kept asking for "more cow".

No-Poo

Everyone who knows me knows that I am always trying new things, especially things that are "green"--remember the short lived vegan stint after Earth Day at LSU? ;0)

Anyhow, one of my friends told me that she was starting to not use shampoo because she wanted to reduce her impact by releasing fewer toxins (that are in shampoo) into the water and using fewer plastic bottles per year.

Whoa, hippie, but you need shampoo! I know, my first thought as well.

I did a little more research on it. After learning that you actually do wash your hair, just with more natural things like baking soda, lemon juice, a conditioner and brown sugar mix, etc., I decided to give it a go. Today is day 7 and my hair looks great. It is not greasy at all and smells and looks better than it "normally" does. It is starting to curl a little more and is really easy to manage.

Snow Day

C and RS during the snow day on March 1 in Atlanta. It was really pretty, but didn't stay around too long. RS didn't really know what to think about it. He was very curious while we were inside, but I don't think he was too in love with the cold and wet feeling. :0)

ECing. . .the journey continues

I read about ECing when RS was a few months old, but didn't give much of a shot. I took out the Diaper Free Baby book out again when I was pregnant with RC and have really been trying to be semi-consistent about it. And it has been great so far!! She has been going to pee and poo on the potty as often as I will bring her. When I don't have time to take her to the potty, she will let me know that she is pretty ticked off. ;-) Today, I went out for a couple of hours and asked C to take her to the potty and cue her to pee about every 5 min or so (since I had just fed her, she goes pretty frequently for about 30 min). He called later and asked how many times she would likely need to go pee and I told him that he should take her NOW if he hadn't yet. He let me know that he had offered it to her twice and she did pee both times. I think even he is a little surprised by how easy it is.

She does seem to be SO much happier since I have been paying more attention to her and when she is "telling" me that she needs to go. She really likes it that she doesn't have to sit in her own waste anymore. This is great news for mommy and baby!

Getting Started

Hi there! It took a while, but finally I too am becoming part of the blogging world. I'm just learning, so be patient. The main reason I wanted to get started is to post pictures of the kids who I will refer to as R and R. It has been really hard to try to e-mail pics to everyone who asks, so hopefully this will be a way to watch them grow.
